I am fascinated by the stories that define a community: the shared experiences, values, and talents that have the ability to unify a group while also honoring its individual members. I strive to create places and relationships in which people feel valued and respected enough to share experiences and visions that mean the most to them. This process of shared story can also define the radical imaginative vision of a community, which can and should serve as the guiding point for social change and an activist’s work. Stories and histories answer two questions: who are we? Who do we hope to become? Because stories are so sacred and important in this way, I want my work to uplift community members and partners by being a steward of story, language, and lived experience.
